Message from President 2017-18 Paul Taranto

The Rotary Club of Mordialloc has a proud history of 46 years of community service. Our members represent a wide range of business, professional and community experience and put these to the benefit of local and international communities through the many programs of Rotary. I am pleased to be selected to lead the Club in 2017-18 as we embrace the Rotary International theme of “Rotary: Making a Difference” proclaimed by our International President Ian Riseley, a Rotarian from our own District 9810.

During the year we will continue many of our established activities such as the Interplast fundraising golf day, partnerships with local primary and secondary schools in programs for young people and the Rotary Foundation humanitarian and educational programs. We will continue with the next Gnome and Fairy Festival in Mordialloc early in 2018. This local community event was first held in 2013 and is now firmly established as a popular community event for young families. We intend to continue our focus on both local community projects and in the international and wider communities. Unfortunately, we are unable to run our Annual Art show in 2017 but hope that we can resume sometime in the future.

Some of my specific club goals for the year can be summarised as:

  • Increase membership
  • Sponsor the formation of an Interact Club with one or more local schools.
  • Develop at least one project funded by a global or district grant
  • Increase the profile of the club in the local community.
  • Maintain the club’s support of youth programs and RYLA.
  • Hold another successful Gnome and Fairy festival.

We invite you all to learn more about our club through the various pages of this website. If you wish to learn more about a particular topic or about Rotary generally, please contact us using one of the contact links provided.
